These units have been built to use a compact form factor, so that they do not stick out very far, allowing most users to leave them connected to their devices, without worrying about catching or knocking them. We have specifically had these devices designed and tested with the retro gamer in mind. We have not simply gone to a branding site and had generic USB memory keys shipped with our name on them. 4GB may not sounds like much these days, however, when storing old computer game files, you can usually fit thousands of games on a device of this size and in many cases, it is not worth paying a premium for larger drives. This is why Retro EZ have invested in manufacturing our own Mini USB 4GB storage drives. ultimately turning a rare chance to play those old school games for a few hours, into a frustrating session of troubleshooting. However, there is also nothing more disappointing than getting a cold drink and a few snacks ready, putting some good tunes on and settling back for a session, to insert your USB memory stick and find it isn't recognised or your game files are corrupted. We know how time consuming it is for customers using USB memory sticks to store their retro computer game ROMs on (all neatly organised into folders and regions ready to pop into their favourite gaming device or emulator) for when those precious few hours come up for a well earned retro gaming session! We have tried many different USB storage devices on the market with various results. Our e-mail was answered in less than two hours, and we waited on the phone a mere two minutes to speak to a customer service representative.Retro EZ appreciate the need for reliable portable storage. You can e-mail Transcend's technicians anytime with a question (the company promises next-day response) or call toll-free weekdays from 7 a.m. The company's Web site has downloads of key files and basic FAQs but lacks any setup tips or an online forum. Transcend StoreJet comes with a two-year warranty, a step down from Apricorn's three years of coverage. Alternatively, copy the download link to other download tools. Using ExBoot, the StoreJet was able to back up the 14.7GB of data on our ThinkPad R50 in 40 minutes, 7 seconds. The file is too large, click Download in the Download field and select High-Speed Download (HedEx Lite required). Unfortunately, ExBoot Express can back up only the contents of the system's C: drive, and it merely mirrors the drive's contents without compression or the ability to perform incremental backups. Software for the device is a mixed bag, with utilities for backing up, password-protecting files, taking your Internet Explorer Favorites with you, and editing an Outlook address book.
